NACS Roofing originated from the dream of a man who took pride in providing for his family. His name was Jose Ortiz. My father migrated from Honduras to South Florida over thirty years ago. He decided that moving to this county would provide his children and wife better opportunities and quality of life. In 1997, He started working in a roofing company in Broward county as a laborer with no English or trade knowledge. He dedicated his time off to learning the language and put a lot of effort into learning everything there is to know about roofing.
Over a short period, he then became a roofing supervisor. He always ambitioned something bigger, something better, and something that would make a difference in people’s lives. He loved the roofing business and therefore decided to venture out independently. He started his own roofing business and worked under several roofing contractors. He then wanted to qualify his roofing company with a legitimate Florida roofing License and be the contractor himself. Sadly, life got in the way. In December 2017, He was diagnosed with cancer. My father fought it and gave it his all for three years. Sadly he lost his battle in December 2020.
Now, let me tell you how I became a roofing contractor. Both of my parents always had big dreams for their children. They gave us love and rigor and made us who we are today. Construction ran through my blood Both My father and grandfather were in the construction industry. My father used to take my siblings and me to work with him and teach us about roofing. I saw an opportunity in this business and learned to enjoy it truly. Fast forward several years later. When my father was diagnosed with terminal cancer, I moved back home to care for him.
Here, I decided to achieve his dream of qualifying His business with a Florida roofing license. I studied roofing books and worked for a roofing company. Six months later, I passed the state-required tests, My father got to witness this, and he knew I would continue His legacy! Here, at this moment, is when NACS Roofing was born. And what better person to do it to than my father’s best friend? A man I had known since childhood, Selvin Sandoval.
Like me, Selvin comes from a family of construction. His father is a general contractor back in our homeland. He migrated to this country in his early 20s, quickly started working in the same roofing company as my father, and learned all the ins and outs of the roofing industry. He soon realized all the opportunities roofing had to offer. So, through his hard work, loyalty, and knowledge, he was promoted to supervisor and, soon after, a roofing manager. He worked for the same roofing company in Broward and Orange counties for many years.
Throughout the years, He traveled to several states to oversee several roofing projects. He then decided to settle in Broward county and started working for himself. He opened his own business. He wanted to grow in this industry; he truly enjoyed what he did for work. Selvin has dedicated his last 25 years to roofing. He gained experience and knowledge, and most importantly, people trust when it comes to their roofs.
When my father passed, he knew Selvin, and I would be able to continue his legacy. Now his legacy has become our legacy. We have made it our own; we live and breathe NACS Roofing. We have committed ourselves to this company and its customers.
